MIDLAND, Mich. - The Great Lakes Loons, Lou E. Loon, and MidMichigan Health are inviting young athletes from around the

Great Lakes Bay Region to take part in the upcoming Olympic Games Party at Dow Diamond on Saturday, July 13, at 11 a.m.

For the Fit Club Event, Dow Diamond will be transformed into an Olympic-sized coliseum full of fun competitions, both on and off the field, sure to test any athlete's endurance and precision. Some traditional events scheduled to take place are the long toss, home run derby and shuttle run. The Loon'lympics will also include contemporary competitions, such as an obstacle course and a Dance Dance Revolution contest.

"Lou E. Loon has been training for about a month now in preparation for the event," said Paul Barbeau, Loons President and General Manager. "He's been doing laps around the ballpark, rigorous aquatic exercise in the Tittabawassee and weighted funky feather reps on non-game days."

While he hopes to win a few of the events himself, Lou E. Loon will also be present to encourage athletes to reach their personal bests. The event will run until 1 p.m., with a medal ceremony concluding the event, which is free and open to the public.

Kids can sign up for free to be a Fit Club member at the event or on Lou E.'s webpage on Loons.com. Kids can also sign up at any Loons home game by stopping by guest services (located on the first base side of the concourse) and asking for a Lou E.'s Fit Club sign-up packet.
