Bowling Green Hot Rods News Release
Bowling Green, KY - The Bowling Green Hot Rods (12-7, 50-37) lost their series finale 6-2 to the Lansing Lugnuts (3-15, 35-52) on Monday afternoon at Bowling Green Ballpark. Justin O'Conner broke up a shutout bid with his team-high seventh home run of the season to highlight a three-hit day. Jose Molina also performed well, pitching three scoreless innings in relief.
Lansing's runs all came with the long ball. Kevin Patterson hit a solo home run in the second inning that landed by Seventh Avenue behind the right field wall. Emilio Guerrero followed in the third with a two-run shot to left field. The scoring was capped by the Lugnuts after a Carlos Ramirez homer in the sixth. Ramirez's three-run blast marked the third home run allowed by Sean Bierman.
Molina followed Bierman with three scoreless innings to keep Lansing from adding to its advantage. O'Conner touched Tucker Donahue during the eighth inning by clearing the wall in left-center field to get the Hot Rods within 6-1. In the ninth, Joey Rickard led off the frame with a walk and was at third base for an RBI single from Andrew Toles for the final margin of 6-2.
Bowling Green will be idle on Tuesday before beginning a six-game road trip in Iowa on Wednesday. The Hot Rods will start a three-game set in Davenport against the Quad Cities River Bandits at 7:05 PM CDT with LHP Blake Snell (2-6, 4.37) pitching against RHP Lance McCullers (4-4, 2.70). Chris Kleinhans-Schulz will call the game, starting with the Forever Communications Pregame Show at 6:35 PM CDT on the Hot Rods Radio Network (1340 "The Ticket" WBGN-AM and 1340wbgn.com).
The Hot Rods return to Bowling Green Ballpark on July 17 to start a six-game homestand. The homestand will begin with another IGA All-You-Can-Eat Wednesday. For more details and to secure your tickets, call the Hot Rods Ticket Office at (270) 901-2121 or visit BGHotRods.com.
