Lookouts take series with Monday win

Chattanooga, Tenn. - The Chattanooga Lookouts (55-59, 25-20) scored eight runs in the third inning and cruised to a 10-2 victory over the Jacksonville Suns (65-50, 30-15) in front of 2,267 Monday night at AT&T Field.
Lookouts starter Chris Withrow (1-1) picked up the victory, allowing two unearned runs and three hits over five innings. Suns starter Jarrett Santos (3-1) allowed the eight runs in the third inning, only three earned, with nine hits in the loss.
The Chattanooga rally started with runners at first and second base with one out. On an Andrew Lambo ground ball, Suns second baseman Kevin Randel committed an error trying to shovel to the bag for the start of a double play loading the bases. Lucas May and Russell Mitchell next each singled home a run for a 2-0 score. Tommy Giles then doubled home two more runs for a 4-0 lead. After a strikeout of the pitcher, James Tomlin drove in a run with a single to open a 5-0 score. Ramon Nivar next capped off the inning with a three-run homerun for an 8-0 score.
Jacksonville scored two unearned runs in the fifth inning against Withrow. With runners at first and sec ond and two out, Ryan Klosterman's ground ball to shortstop was thrown away into right field allowing a run to score. On the same play, right fielder Tommy Giles threw wild into left field to bring in a second run for an 8-2 game.
Chattanooga capped off the night in the sixth inning as Tommy Giles belted a two-out, two-run homerun off Suns reliever Todd Doolittle for a 10-2 final.
