Chattanooga Lookouts News Release

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - The Lookouts took the rubber game of the series against the Jacksonville Suns on the wings of an eight-run rally in the third frame. Tommy Giles went 2-4 with a double, a homer, and four RBIs to lead the Lookouts to a 10-2 win over the Suns in Monday night action at AT&T Field.

After two innings of much-ado-about-nothing baseball, the Lookouts exploded for eight runs in the third inning. Ramon Nivar and Eddy Perez singled to lead off the inning. After a Gaby Martinez line out, Andrew Lambo reached first on a fielding error by second baseman Kevin Randel. With the bases loaded, Lucas May and Russ Mitchell singled to score two runs. Tommy Giles followed with a double to score two more runs. With two outs, Tomlin singled to score Mitchell. Nivar, who led off the rally, put the final nail in the coffin for the big inning by nailing a three-run shot over the left field wall.

Jacksonville entered the scoreboard in the fifth with two runs. Brad Davis hit a one-out double to begin the rally. After a Chris Leroux ground out and Bryan Petersen walk, Ryan Klosterman hit an infield single in which shortstop Ramon Nivar made an errant throw to second. The wayward ball ended up in right field, where Tommy Giles proceeded to make a wild throw to second. After the circus act ended, the Suns found themselves with two runs.

Giles atoned for his error in the sixth by launching a two-run homer to give the Lookouts a 10-2 edge.

Chris Withrow (1-1) earned his first win as Lookouts. In five innings of work, he surrendered two runs (zero earned) on three hits and three walks, while striking out five.

Jarrett Santos (3-1) took the loss for the Suns. He yielded eight runs (three runs), nine hits, and one walk in the losing effort.
