Mobile BayBears News Release

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - For the second straight outing, Barry Enright tossed six scoreless frames while the BayBears' offense erupted late in a 7-1 victory over the Montgomery Biscuits on Monday night at Riverwalk Stadium.

Enright (8-7) was matched pitch-for-pitch through the first three innings by Darin Downs (0-1) who made his debut for the Biscuits (55-60, 22-23). Downs didn't give up a hit until the fourth when Evan Frey singled to left field. Frey wasn't on the bases long as Chris Rahl followed with a triple to right-center, putting the BayBears (55-60, 18-27) on top.

Rahl hung out at third for a moment while Pedro Ciriaco struck out and Ricardo Sosa bounced to third, but Bryan Byrne wouldn't leave Rahl out there forever as he singled him home.

Enright made that two-run advantage stick through his six innings while only allowing four hits. No member of the Biscuits even reached third while their biggest threat came in the sixth when they put runners on first and second with one out.

Downs didn't have the same fortune as he was tagged for another run in the seventh. Byrne and Cyle Hankerd kicked off the frame with successive singles while Matt Tupman moved both men over with a sac bunt. After Yunesky Sanchez was walked intentionally, Pete Clifford pounded a single to right to knock home Byrne.

In the eighth, Ciriaco walked with one out against Neal Frontz and stole second with two away while advancing to third on a throwing error by Matt Spring. Byrne singled Ciriaco to the dish while Hankerd kept the rally going with an infield hit. Tupman's base knock brought Byrne home while Sanchez tripled in a pair down the right field line to make it 7-0.

Kyler Newby tossed a perfect inning out of the BayBears' bullpen while Roque Mercedes walked two but didn't cough up a hit or a run in the eighth. Daniel Stange allowed the shutout to be broken in the ninth inning as Cody Cipriano tripled and scored on a sac fly by J. T. Hall.
