Chattanooga Lookouts News Release
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Huntsville and Chattanooga both flexed their offensive muscles in an 11-7 slugfest at AT&T Field in Thursday night action.
Huntsville jumped out of the gate with a vengeance, scoring four runs in the first inning off of Camilo Vazquez (3-3). A Michael Garciaparra three-run shot capped the rally.
The Lookouts, however, would not be undone, as they countered with six runs in the bottom portion of the first. An Eric Eymann grand slam accounted for the majority of the damage. Huntsville starting pitcher Jeremy Jeffress (2-1) would not even complete the first frame before being given the hook.
Chattanooga added another run in the third. Eymann started the rally off with a double and advanced to third on an Eddy Rodriguez single. Vazquez helped out his own cause by hitting a sacrifice fly to center.
Garciaparra struck again in the fifth for the Stars, hitting an RBI single to put the score at 7-5. Chris Heisey hit the second grand slam for the Lookouts on the evening in the seventh to give Chattanooga some much-needed breathing room.
Huntsville added a run in the eighth and ninth, respectively. Michael Brantley hit an RBI single in the eighth, while Garciaparra collected his fifth RBI of the evening on an RBI single in the ninth.
Chattanooga will continue with their five-game homestand against the Huntsville Stars at 7:15 P.M., tomorrow. The Tickets for these games or any other Lookouts home game can be purchased at the Lookouts Box Office at AT&T Field, online at www.lookouts.com, or by calling (423) 267-4849.
