Chattanooga Lookouts News Release

The Lookouts (11-13) and the Barons (11-13) battled hard in the fourth game of their five-game series, but the game was shortened by rain and the Barons took their first win in the series, 7-2. The stadium had plenty of cheers and barks from the crowd and even one Lookouts player, Jeremy Hazelbaker, brought his beloved pooches for Dogs on the Diamond Day.

After the pre-game festivities were over, starting pitcher Andres Santiago recorded a quick 1-2-3 inning to start the game. Lookouts infielder Darnell Sweeney then led off the bottom of the first inning with a single, and stole second base later in the frame. Brian Cavazos-Galvez recorded a base hit to bring Sweeney around to score and the Lookouts took an early 1-0 lead.

It wasn't until the third inning that the Barons were able to get on the board with Micah Johnson getting his fourth hit in the previous two games by legging out a two-out infield single and the runner on second base, Michael Early, never stopped running until his foot touched home. That was the only run that was scored against Andres Santiago, who was taken out of the game after the fifth inning even though he only threw 70 pitches.

Once the seventh inning rolled around the Barons put together four more runs on three doubles, an error and a single. The Lookouts attempted to rally back in the bottom of the inning when Ryan Adams hit a double down the left field line and Brian Cavazos-Galvez hit a single to bring him around. The team stranded Cavazos-Galvez at second base and that was all the scoring that they could manage before the rain started. After a delay of 38 minutes the game was called with the game being a 7-2 final.

The series finale will feature RHP Garrett Gould (0-4, 8.31 ERA) looking to get his first win of the season against RHP Terry Doyle (2-2, 6.00 ERA) of the Barons on Monday Night. The Lookouts will be eyeing their first four-win series of the year.

Notes: Ryan Adams went 1-for-4 with a double and a run scored in the rain-shortened game. Although it was Adams' sixth game played for the Lookouts this year, it was only the second game that he has played in the field, with Sunday being his first start in the field.
