BayBears Win Fourth Straight over Generals Sunday

MOBILE, ALA. (APRIL 27, 2014) - The Jackson Generals (11-13) dropped their fourth straight against the Mobile Baybears (15-9), falling 8-1 on Sunday afternoon. Generals' scheduled starter Stephen Landazuri was scratched during warmups due to tightness in his left oblique and reliever Jordan Shipers made the spot start.

Mobile jumped out to an early lead and held the advantage throughout the contest. The Baybears scored two runs in the first off an RBI double by Jake Lamb and added a three-run home run by Mike Freeman in the second and it was 5-0 Mobile.

Mobile added two more runs on an RBI single by David Peralta in the seventh and one on a bases loaded hit-by-pitch that struck Jake Lamb in the sixth.

The Generals saw their first run in the seventh as Jabari Blash (1-4, RBI) singled on a pop up to second base, scoring Jack Marder (3-3, R). Marder was the only Jackson hitter to hit multiple times in the loss.

Jamal Austin was 1-for-4 and now has a 7-game hitting streak and Kevin Rivers walked, extending his on-base streak to 10 games.

Jackson's pitchers struggled as starter Jordan Shipers (0-2) went three innings and allowed six hits and five runs. Stephen Shackleford lasted just 0.2 innings and allowed three runs and two walks.

W- Michael Lee (3-2): 7.0 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 1 SO, 0 HR, 3.90 ERA

L- Jordan Shipers (0-2): 3.0 IP, 6 H, 5 R, 3 ER, 0 BB, 1 SO, 1 HR, 4.67 ERA

The Jackson Generals wrap-up their series with the Mobile Baybears, trying to avoid the swpeep on Monday at 11:35 AM CT. LHP Cam Hobson (2-1, 3.97 ERA) will face Mobile right-hander Bryan Woodall (0-1, 2.08 ERA).
