Birmingham, AL - The Birmingham Barons saw their season-high losing streak extended to four games Saturday in a 4-1 loss to the Chattanooga Lookouts in front of 4,656 fans at AT&T Field. .
The Barons broke a scoreless tie in the fifth on back-to-back doubles by Josh Richmond and Chris Curley to take a 1-0 lead. The double was Curley'sleague-leading ninth of the season.
However, the run would be the only blemish against Lookouts starter Chris Reed (2-1,1.71) who allowed seven hits and struck out four over 8.0 IP, the longest outing by a starter against the Barons this season.
Barons starter Myles Jaye (0-3, 5.83) cruised through the first five innings but ran into trouble in the sixth, allowing six hits including RBI triples by ScottSchebler and Brian Cavazos-Galvez, givng the Lookouts a 4-1 lead they would not relinquish.
Barons second baseman Micah Johnson finished with three hits on the night, going 3-for-4 and raising his season average to .360.
With the loss, the Barons fell to 10-12 while the Lookouts jumped ahead of the Barons in the North Division standings, improving to 11-12 on the year.
The Barons will look to snap their four-game losing skid Sunday as LHP Scott Snodgress (1-2, 7.11) takes the hill against RHP Andre Santiago (0-1, 5.40). First pitch is scheduled for a 1:15 PM CDT.
