Long Ball Hurts Green Bay in Series Opener

Ashwaubenon, WI - The Green Bay Booyah were unable to scratch across any runs until the ninth inning on Friday night as the long ball played catalyst for the Dock Spiders in the 4-1 loss.

It was a pitcher's duel at Capital Credit Union Park for the first five innings in game one of the two game set. Through five innings, New Mexico State's Chris Jefferson was throwing a no-hitter before the Dock Spiders took him deep twice in the sixth. Three home runs for Fond du Lac on Friday produced all four runs in the game. Chris Jefferson was handed the loss and now sits at 0-1 on the season.

Offensively, it was struggle again to get runs across the board. The one and only run for Green Bay came in the ninth inning when Zack Elliott singled to score Chris Seng. The Booyah had the bases loaded with one out in the ninth, but the Dock Spiders struck out the final two batters to end the game.

Green Bay tries to get back to .500 tomorrow as they travel to Fond du Lac for game two of this series. Dixie State freshman Ben Hart for the fourth time this year, making his third start. Hart holds a 5.11 ERA and an 0-2 record on the season. First pitch from Herr-Baker Field is scheduled for 6:35pm, and pregame live from Marian University begins at 6:25pm on WOCO 107.1 FM.
