
London Outplays Saginaw Saturday Night

The London Knights travelled to the Dow Event Center for some Saturday night hockey against the Saginaw Spirit. The Spirit fell to the London Knights 12-3, with Saginaw's goals coming from Tye Felhaber, Mitch Webb and Greg Di Tomaso
London quickly got the game started 18 seconds into the first period after Mitch Marner opened the scoring with Max Domi and Aiden Jamieson assisting the play. The Spirit were rapid to retaliate as Tye Felhaber ripped home his 17th goal of the season at the 1:25 mark. Jake Ringuette was credited with the lone assist on the play that tied the game at one. Saginaw kept the offensive pressure coming and took their first lead of the night at 1:43 off the stick of Mitch Webb, who recorded his 3rd goal of the season. London tied the game shortly after on a power play goal by Mitch Marner at 2:34, with assists coming from Christian Dvorak and Matt Rupert. London scored three more times before the Spirit were able to cut into their lead during the first period. Jack Hidi, Julius Bergman and Aaron Berisha each recorded a tally that brought the score to 5-2 with four minutes left to go in the first. The Spirit put a stop to the Knight's scoring at 18:44 when Greg Di Tomaso netted his 1st goal of the season with the help of Connor Brown and Mitchell Webb. After the first 20 minutes of play the scoreboard read London 5, Saginaw 3, with shots favoring the visiting team 11-10.
The Knights followed suit of their first period performance and continued to find the back of the net. London tallied 6 goals in the second period, with Chris Martenet, Aaron Berisha, Jack Hidi, and John Warren each recording one goal within the duration of 20 minutes. London's Matt Rupert beat Saginaw's goaltender David Ovsjannikov twice in the second period, allowing the Knights to uphold an 8-goal lead over the Spirit. The teams headed to the locker room after 40 minutes with London leading the Spirit 11-3, and outshooting Saginaw 10-7.
Brandon Crawley was able to net one more goal for the Knights before the final buzzer sounded. Crawley's goal came at 8:32 of the third period, with assists coming from Joel Wigle and Julius Bergman. The final score found London over the Spirit 12-3, with final shots favoring the Knights 30-25.
The Saginaw Spirit will entertain the Plymouth Whalers at the Dow Event Center on Tuesday morning for Education Day. Puck is scheduled to drop at 10:45 a.m.
