Erie Otters News Release

Owen Sound, Ontario - The Otters bounced back from a 5-4 loss in Owen Sound Friday night to top the Attack 6-1 Saturday. Taylor Raddysh led the team with his first OHL hat trick in the first period.

The Otters took an early lead after a three-on-two resulted in Raddysh scoring five-hole on a feed from Dylan Strome. Owen Sound killed their first penalty, but Erie didn't need the man advantage to find the back of the net. A bouncing puck found Raddysh's stick and he tallied his second of the period, giving the Otters a two-goal lead. A review for the Attack after a scrum in front of Daniel Dekoning resulted in a no-goal call, and, not long after, Raddysh notched his third, putting the Otters up by three goals heading into intermission.

A late call in the first gave the Otters a power play to start the second. Connor McDavid was stopped by Michael McNiven, but Strome wouldn't be denied, putting the puck into the net from the back door and Owen Sound replaced McNiven with Jack Flinn 38 seconds in.

Tyler MacArthur and Quentin Maksimovich dropped the gloves, both taking fighting majors. Back and forth on the power play, Kyle Platzer put the Attack on the board halfway through the period. With just over a minute to go in the second period, McDavid found Nick Baptiste and the Otters took a 5-1 lead into intermission.

Penalties riddled the third period as tempers flared on both sides. Halfway through the third, Troy Donnay hit Zach Nastasiuk high and was sent to the locker room with a five-minute checking to the head major and a game misconduct. Despite great chances for the Attack, Dekoning kept the puck out of his net, keeping the Otters in the lead. A strong defensive effort from the Otters killed the extended penalty.

As the penalty expired, Patrick Murphy was called for kneeing and, just over 45 seconds later, Cory Genovese and Jared Lindo were both assessed roughing minors. With Murphy out of the box, Daniel Milne took a seat in the Owen Sound box for slashing and he was joined by Platzer ten seconds later.

Baptiste scored on the power play to put Erie up 6-1, but as he did, Alex DeBrincat was cross-checked hard in front of the net and went to the bench while his teammates went to his aid. Jake Marchment and Milne were both given 10-minute misconducts. A fight broke out between Mason Marchment and Jared Busch for which Busch was given an instigator minor and a misconduct on top of the matching fighting majors he received with Marchment. Liam Dunda took the game's final penalty - a tripping minor - before the Otters held out for the 6-1 victory.

Baptiste, Raddysh and Strome all had three points on the night, while Mason Marchment and McDavid both notched two. McDavid is now on a 24-game point streak with two assists on the night. His 102 points are fourth in the league behind London's Christian Dvorak (103), teammate Strome (109), and London's Mitchell Marner (118).

The Otters head home Wednesday night to take on the Barrie Colts at 7 p.m. before traveling to Barrie on Saturday and North Bay Sunday.
