LA CROSSE, WI - The Loggers' (5-7) second half struggles continued on Monday evening in front of 2,712 Copeland Crazies.

Madison struck right away in the top of the first and did not look back. NWL's leading hitter John LaPrise started things out with a single and shortstop Mike Reuvekamp followed suit. Right fielder Bobby Juan (Minnesota) attempted to throw LaPrise out at third but the ball got past Chris Keck (UCLA) and the Mallards took the lead.

Reilly Hovis (UNC) kept the Loggers in check in his third appearance of the summer. The freshman struck out three over six scoreless innings en route to his first win as a member of Madison.

La Crosse starter Collin Monsour (California) did not fare as well. The freshman scattered four hits and three walks in just four innings; the right hander left with what appeared to be a forearm injury.

Michael Lowden (California) pitched quite well in relief of Monsour. The junior pitched through the eighth, scattering seven hits and two walks but surrendering just one earned run.

Both LaPrise and Brock Stewart had three hits for Madison. First baseman Jeff Zaun's ninth inning three-run home run sealed the deal in Madison's 11-2 victory.

Two Grand Valley State prospects, Mike Nadratowski and Kevin Zak, collected multiple hits for the Loggers. Zak also drove in La Crosse's only two runs of the game.

The rivals will be back in action tomorrow evening at Copeland Park. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 with gates opening at 6:00. Tune into the Loggers Radio Network where Micah Schroeder and Nick Rytilahti will bring you all of the action live.
