Lofton, Stinson Lead Energy Past Reno 124-109

RENO, NV, January 5, 2011- Iowa Energy guard Chris Lofton scored 14 points in the first 3:51 of the 2nd half to help break open a tight game as the Iowa Energy rolled past the Reno Bighorns 124-109 Wednesday night in Reno.

Iowa led 59-53 at halftime over the Bighorns before Lofton, who scored a game high 30 points on the night, drilled four 3-pointers early in 3rd quarter to push the Energy lead to 77-58. For the night, the sharpshooter guard would make seven of his twelve attempts from behind the arc.

Reno cut the lead to 12 mid-way through the 4th quarter, but Iowa used a 6-0 run, capped by a Curtis Stinson bucket, to secure the win.

Stinson finished with 23 points and 10 assists while Othyus Jeffers added 22 points for Iowa, which moves its league best record to 14-5 on the year.

The hosts were led by Marcus Landry (21 points) and Patrick Ewing Jr. (20 points). The loss moves Reno to 10-7 on the season.
