Austin Toros to Host High School Game of the Week

AUSTIN, TEXAS, Jan. 6, 2011 - The Austin Toros today announced the start of the Austin Toros High School Game of the Week series. Each week the Toros, along with corporate partners US Army, Austin Community College and Dick' s Sporting Goods will highlight a signature varsity basketball match-up between two schools in Central Texas.

The game of the week will spotlight high school boys and girls varsity basketball games and highlight outstanding players from the game. One game will be chosen each week based on area high school coach submissions, and historic rivalries and talent match-ups.

This is the first year of the Toros' High School Game of the Week series, the Toros also host an annual Dennis Johnson Memorial High School All-Star game at the end of the regular season to recognize Central Texas senior standouts.

"Developing the future stars of the NBA goes beyond the Austin Toros," said Peter Lubell, Toros Chief Operating Officer. "As part of our new high school game of the week series, along with our great corporate partners, we're focused on building future leaders, community stewards and scholar athletes throughout the Central Texas region."
