Iowa Tops Bighorns, 124-109

RENO, Nev.- Reno's two newcomers-forward Anthony Richardson and guard Salim Stoudamire-combined for 32 points and nine assists Wednesday night, but the Iowa Energy used a dominant third-quarter effort to defeat the Bighorns, 124-109, in the Reno Events Center.

Richardson, who was acquired by Reno in a trade with New Mexico on Monday, finished with 17 points and eight rebounds in 31 minutes off the bench. Stoudamire, who signed with the Bighorns on Tuesday, collected 15 points and five assists in 28 minutes of action.

The Bighorns (10-7) trailed by six at intermission, but the Energy (14-5) came out firing in the second half. Iowa outscored Reno 39-23 in the third period, taking a lead it would not relinquish.

Marcus Landry led Reno with 21 points, helped by three three-point goals. Patrick Ewing added 20 points, and Doug Thomas pulled down a team-high nine rebounds.

Chris Lofton hit seven three-pointers for Iowa on his way to a game-high 30 points. Curtis Stinson finished with 23 points and 10 assists, while Courtney Sims nabbed 14 rebounds for the Energy.

The Bighorns now hit the road for four-straight, beginning with a two-game weekend series in Utah. The opener on Friday is set for a 6 p.m. PT tip in the McKay Event Center.
