Ling, Westcott Returned to Syracuse

Syracuse, NY (January 31, 2003) – The Syracuse Crunch announced today that the Columbus Blue Jackets have reassigned right wing David Ling and defenseman Duvie Westcott to the Crunch.

Ling, 27, appeared in six games with the Blue Jackets after being recalled on January 20, recording his first NHL point that night against Chicago and his first NHL goal against Dallas (Ron Tugnutt) on January 22. He has appeared in 44 games with the Crunch this season, leading the team in assists (32), points (38) and penalty minutes (125). A native of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Ling was signed by Columbus as a free agent on July 7, 2001.

Westcott, 25, has appeared in 28 games for Columbus, recording five assists, and 61 penalty minutes. He recorded his first NHL point on December 12 vs. New Jersey. In 18 games with the Crunch, Westcott has recorded one goal, 10 assists and 52 penalty minutes. A native of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Westcott was signed as a free agent by Columbus on May 7, 2001.

The Crunch returns to action tonight when they travel to Binghamton. Game time is set for 7:05 p.m. Syracuse returns home tomorrow night to host the Rochester Americans, featuring the Bradley's Jewelers Diamond-In-A-Bag program.
