Curtis Murphy and Mark Cullen notched two assists each and Frederic Cloutier made 20 saves as Houston ended the Amerks' three-game unbeaten streak.

LOOKING AHEAD:
Chicago heads to Norfolk tonight (7:30 ET, 6:30 CT) to face the stingy South Division-leading Admirals. The Wolves are fourth in the AHL in scoring at 3.38 goals per game, but Norfolk has allowed just 13 goals in 11 contests during the month of January, posting five shutouts since New Year's. Chicago, coming off back-to-back one-goal losses in Manitoba, has been led by Simon Gamache with 21 pts. in his last 14 games.
Hartford and Manchester revisit their classic five-game playoff series from a year ago when the Wolf Pack visit the Verizon Wireless Arena tonight (7:35 ET). The Pack ousted the Monarchs in double overtime of the deciding Game 5 last spring, but have lost 3-2 and 8-7 decisions in the teams' first two meetings this year. Manchester's power play is 7-for-16 in the two games against Hartford, and is still clicking at a league-leading 22.4 percent for the season.
Hamilton hosts Manitoba tonight (7:30 ET, 6:30 CT) and Saturday (7:00/6:00) in a pair of televised Canadian Division battles. The teams split a two-game set in Winnipeg last weekend, with the Bulldogs' Michael Ryder extending his scoring streak to 10 games with a pair of three-point nights. Chris Herperger has eight points in six games since joining the Moose, who are 0-5-1-0 in their last six road games.
The 2003 Dodge AHL All-Star Classic shines its spotlight on Portland this weekend. The Canadian team has won three straight AHL All-Star Games, including a 13-11 victory last year in St. John's. This year's event will showcase 36 first-time All-Stars; 11 rookies; 21 players age 23 or younger; 26 players who have been recalled to the NHL this season; and 15 former first- and second-round draft picks. The event will be broadcast live to 60 million homes across the United States and Canada, and Monday night's game can be heard via cybercast on theahl.com.
