Grand Rapids, Mich. - The Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League on Friday released goaltender Andrew Allen.

Allen, who signed with the Griffins on Sept. 25, 2002, served as the team's backup for three games in December while Marc Lamothe was on recall to the Detroit Red Wings. He has appeared in 19 games for the Dayton Bombers of the East Coast Hockey League this season, posting a 5-9-3 record with a 3.48 goals against average, a 0.882 save percentage and one shutout.
