Albuquerque Isotopes News Release

The accolades continue to roll in for Albuquerque Isotopes first baseman John Lindsey, who has been named Topps Pacific Coast League Player of the Month for May by vote of league managers.

Lindsey batted a blistering .415 (44x106) in 27 May games while adding 19 runs scored, 12 doubles, a triple, seven homers, and 25 RBI. The infielder also spent the majority of the month on a torrid hitting streak, racking up knocks in 17 straight games, third longest this season in the PCL, from May 7 to May 27 in which he batted .466 (34x73) with 15 runs, 11 doubles, five homers, and 17 RBI.

The big month has propelled the native of Hattiesburg, Mississippi to the top of the PCL in hitting as Lindsey has posted a .405 average entering play on June 8 and is threatening the League's modern record for batting average of .383 set by Rick Short of New Orleans in 2005. At the end of May in Short's record season, he was batting .321, a far cry from Lindsey's average at the end of May of .430.

The Isotopes wrap up their four-game homestand today with a Business Person's special before a well-deserved day off on Wednesday. Albuquerque will then hit the road for four games with division rival Oklahoma City and return home for a four-game series with the Omaha Royals, Triple-A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals, on June 14. Tickets for any Isotopes game may be purchased at the Isotopes Park Box Office, at Ticketmaster outlets, by phone at 1-800-745-3000, or on-line at www.albuquerquebaseball.com or www.ticketmaster.com.
