Tacoma Rainiers News Release

Tacoma, WA - The Tacoma Rainiers let a late-inning long ball get the best of them in a 5-3 loss to Las Vegas at Cheney Stadium on Tuesday.

Catcher J.P. Arencibia belted a three-run home run, his 10th of the season, with two outs in the top of the eighth to give Las Vegas the go-ahead run and all the offense they would need for a win in the outing.

The homer erased what had been a 3-2 Rainiers lead heading in to the inning. Second baseman Ramon Vazquez broke up a 2-2 tie in the seventh with an RBI-single that drove in outfielder Ezequiel Carerra.

Reliever Zach Jackson picked up the win for the 51s after allowing one run on two hits over 1/3 innings of work in the seventh. Right-hander Jeremy Accardo put together a hitless and scoreless effort through the game's final 1 1/3 innings en route to his seventh save this season.

The loss went to Tacoma reliever Brian Sweeney following an effort where the right-hander gave up three runs on two hits with three strikeouts.

Starter Ryan Feierabend went five innings for the Rainiers in the no decision, allowing two runs, one earned, on seven hits with three strikeouts.

The Rainiers return to action on Wednesday, June 10 when they welcome Fresno for a four-game series. Left-hander Chris Seddon will get the nod for Tacoma, with right-hander Joe Martinez slated to go to the mound for the Grizzlies.
