Johnson greeted the new Nashville right-hander with a single before Matt Kata legged out an RBI triple to center to up the lead to 4-0. Kata later scored the final Express run on a double-play groundout.

The Sounds broke up the Round Rock shutout bid in the top of the ninth, when Mat Gamel drew a one-out walk from Express reliever Roy Corcoran and later scored on a two-out double off the bat of Brendan Katin.

Round Rock starter Shane Loux (2-1) tossed five innings of scoreless, two-hit ball to earn the win for the Express.
