Memphis Redbirds News Release

The Redbirds show approval for the striking of one's palms against one another with force on Friday, June 11th at 7:05pm when the Cardinals Triple-A affiliate plays the Iowa Cubs. The "Ode to Clapping" Night will have prizes for lucky fans, such as albums from Eric Clapton and Clap Your Hands, Say Yeah and from the infomercial Hall of Fame, The Clapper. In addition to those items, the Redbirds will allow a lucky pair the opportunity to practice their golf clap with 2 tickets to the St. Jude Classic.

A lucky row will win bobbleheads from Memphis Redbird great, Stubby Clapp. RedHots will be in the concourse prior to the game playing patty cake with fans. Music and movie clips throughout the night will be devoted to scenes of clapping. A history of clapping will be shared with "Great Moments in Clapping" during the game as well. If fans entering AutoZone Park are happy, and they know it, they will be asked to clap their hands.

The game will be finished by applause with a post game fireworks show presented by AT&T The Real Yellow Pages and YP.com.

The Redbirds homestand starts on Thursday, June 10th with the managers of each team taking the spotlight with a Ryne Sandberg toy rhino giveaway and a Chris "Hammer" Maloney signed hammer. Saturday, June 12th is Faith and Family Night with a post-game Christian concert with recording artists, Rush of Fools. Sunday's afternoon game is Bark in the Ballpark with $1 hot dogs courtesy of King Cotton and a performance by nationally renowned act, Jake the Diamond Dog. Also on Sunday, fans are allowed to bring their dog to the park and sit in a special furry friend section in the picnic pavilion. Memphis Animal Shelter will be on hand with dogs up for adoption.
