New Orleans Baby Cakes News Release
Chad Tracy drilled a pair of home runs to the lead the Iowa Cubs to a 5-1 win over the New Orleans Zephyrs on Tuesday afternoon. Former Rummell and UNO star Thomas Diamond pitched five shutout innings to earn the win for the Cubs. Diamond allowed two hits and struckout 8 hitters earning his fourth win of the season. Danny Richar led the Zephyrs with three hits in the game. Brian Lawrence suffered the defeat. The Zephyrs split the series with the Cubs.
Game Notes- The Z's promoted Emilio Bonifacio and Rick VandenHurk to the Marlins. Monday's winning pitcher Kyle Gunderson was assigned to Class AA Jacksonville.
Coming Up: The Zephyrs return home on Thursday to open a four game homestand against the Round Rock Express.
