LINCOLN, Neb. - The Lincoln Stars (9-15-1) came up short for the second straight game as the Sioux City Musketeers (13-15-1) left the Ice Box with two points following a 3-1 victory for the visitors on Saturday night.

James Stefan continued his hot streak, scoring his fifth goal of the season at 6:59 of the first period. Tony Follmer and Dominic James got the assists. Follmer would get involved in the offensive zone once again later in the period, finishing off a great pass from Cross Hanas.

However, the goal was disallowed for goaltender interference at 17:39, keeping Sioux City's deficit at one. Dominic James was sent to the box for the penalty. Video replay showed that Musketeers goaltender Akira Schmid fell on his own. Lincoln went into the first period intermission up 1-0 following a perfect opening 20 minutes from Ryan Ouellette, who stopped eight. The Stars fired 13 shots on goal.

In the second period, Sioux City was able to even up the game at 8:21 with Tabor Heaslip's redirection. In the dying seconds of the frame, Clay Hanus was tripped in the neutral zone, but there was no call on the play. Later in the shift, Ethan Edwards blasted a shot past Ouellette to give the Musketeers their first lead of the game at 19:54.

Lincoln was down one heading into the third period, but led the shot totals 25-17.

Matteo Costantini would add his second goal against Lincoln this season at 8:39 of the third period, extending Sioux City's lead to 3-1. The Stars had an opportunity to get back into the game with a late power play, but the visitors kept them off the scoreboard.
