Fargo Force News Release
Two Omaha goals 55 seconds apart half way through the game broke a 2-2 deadlock and the Lancers went on to a 7-4 victory in Fargo tonight.
It was a scoreless start to period one, with the teams going back and forth for much of the period. With 3:28remaining the first penalty of the night was called against the Lancers, a four-minute double minor, sending the Force into a 5 on 4 powerplay. However, it was the Lancers who scored on a breakaway giving them a 1-0 lead with under a minute remaining in the period.
They added on to that lead with a goal scored 2:55 into period two. Three minutes later the Force added on two consecutive goals of their own. The first from Aaron Huglen, his eighth of the season, assisted by Cody Monds and Tristan Broz. Followed by a goal from Ryan Richardson directing in Nick Strom's shot from the point tying up the game at 2-2. Omaha followed that up with two quick goals of their giving them a 4-2 lead.
However, it didn't stay that way for long. The Force added on their third goal of the period on the powerplay thanks to a tally by Jeremy Davidson, off a nice cross crease feed from Matt Crasa. Period two closed with a 4-3 Lancer lead, with a total of six goals scored in the second period.
Just :45 seconds into the 3rd period, Omaha added another goal to add to their lead, prompting a goalie switch from Miller to Boynton in the net. 2:15later the Lancers struck again, bringing their lead to 6-3. It wasn't until :45 seconds remaining in the period that the Force added on another goal. This time thanks to Washington Capitals draft pick, Bear Hughes, assisted by Tristan Broz and Cody Monds. That was followed up shortly by an Omaha goal into an empty Fargo net.
The Force are back home for two games at Scheels Arena next weekend vs. the Sioux City Musketeers. Puck drop on Friday night is at 7:05 PM.
