Lancers Sweep Force in Weekend Series, 7-4 Final

FARGO, ND - The Omaha Lancers defeated the Fargo Force in game two of the weekend series by a final score of 7-4 earning a sweep on the weekend.

Late in the first period, and for the second night in a row, Ayrton Martino (19:51) roofed a short-handed goal past Andrew Miller getting the Lancers on the board 1-0.

In the second period, Zach Dubinsky (2:55) scored his first of the year getting the Lancers ahead 2-0. The Force would soon even the game 2-2 with Huglen and Richardson scoring within two minutes of each other. As the period continued, Nolan Renwick (11:22) received a pass from Michael Posma to beat Miller from the left-wing side making the score 3-2. The Lancers' attack continued when Liam Devlin (12:17) tipped in a shot from Aiden Dubinsky to make it a 4-2 game. The Force would add another goal late in the period, at 15:03 making it a 4-3 score.

At the beginning of the final frame, Michael Posma (0:45) tipped in a shot from Aiden Dubinsky for a 5-3 score. After the goal, Miller was pulled and Boynton was called on between the pipes. The Lancers soon went on the power play, when Zach Dubinsky (3:30) netted his second goal of the night and season after finding a rebound from Ryan Lautenbach to beat Boynton. Nearing the end of the third period, Fargo pulled Boynton for the extra attacker, and the Force would add a goal at 19:15. The Lancers though would end up scoring an empty-net goal from Liam Devlin (19:51) for a final score of 7-4 and earning the weekend sweep. Dobes stopped 27 of the 31 shots he faced in the win.

The Lancers are now 16-14 on the season with 32 points and have moved up to second place in the USHL Western Conference. Omaha will host the Waterloo Black Hawks on Friday, February 19th at Ralston Arena. The opening puck drop is at 7:05 pm.
