Sioux City Musketeers News Release
(Lincoln, NE) - The Sioux City Musketeers trailed by a goal after one period but rallied to top Lincoln 3-1 on Saturday.
The Stars opened the scoring with a James Stefan goal just under seven minutes into the contest but the Musketeers tied things up with 11:39 left in the second period when Tabor Heaslip corralled a whipping pass from Matteo Costantini and jammed the puck past Lincoln netminder Ryan Ouellette.
The two teams seemed content to head to the intermission knotted up before Bennett Schimek passed to a wide-open Ethan Edwards playing the opposing blue line. Edwards fired a slapshot past Ouellette with six seconds left for his third goal of the season.
Costantini would add another goal early in the third period and that would be more than enough to put Sioux City over the top in Saturday's contest. Musketeer goaltender Akira Schmid finished with 36 saves as Sioux City improves to 13-15-1 overall. The Musketeers return to action Sunday afternoon for a home contest against Sioux Falls.
