Winnipeg Goldeyes News Release

Two reasons why the Goldeyes are the hottest team in the Northern League these days have been rewarded for their efforts.

Southpaw starter Roger Lincoln and righty Shawn Sedlacek were both added to the North Division squad today for the July 19 contest from Gary's U. S. Steel Yard. The pair join Harry Berrios, who was named yesterday as the North's starting designated hitter.

Lincoln joined the Goldeyes for the season-opening series in Fargo after being claimed off waivers from Lincoln. He began the year in the bullpen but has since emerged as one the league's top starters, sporting a 3-2 record with a 2.82 earned run average (good for sixth in the league) through the first half, striking out 48 while walking just six in 51 innings.

Sedlacek arrived a week into the season and has been the team's ace. Averaging almost eight innings per start, he is 3-3 with a 3.60 ERA and three complete games. His 70 innings pitched, as well as his ERA, leave him just short of the league leaders.

The trio will all be in uniform tonight when Winnipeg opens the second half at home against Sioux Falls. Following three games with the Canaries, the Goldeyes head for Fargo for three games with the RedHawks before the three-day all-star break.
