
Four RedHawks added to All-Star roster

FARGO, N.D. - The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks have four more members of their team headed to the 2005 Northern League All-Star Game in Gary, Ind., as RHP Brandon Culp, RHP Taft Cable, LHP Joe Sergent, and 1B Clyde Williams were selected today by North Division manager Mike Busch.
Culp, who made two appearances out of the bullpen to begin the season, has gone 7-0 with a 2.80 ERA since moving into his starting role on May 26. In a total of 63.1 innings pitched, Culp has allowed just 21 earned runs on 56 hits while striking out 33 batters.
Cable also began the season in the RedHawks bullpen making six appearances before making his 2005 starting debut on June 6, against the Edmonton Cracker-Cats. In his first start, Cable pitched eight scoreless innings. In seven starts, Cable has a 5-1 record with team low 2.84 ERA. Cable also leads the team in strikeouts (44) and has allowed the fewest runs (19) of any starting pitcher.
Sergent has made all 10 of his appearances as a starter while accumulating 6-2 record with a 3.82 ERA. In a team high 66.0 innings of work, Sergent has allowed 29 runs with 36 strikeouts. Sergent is also one of three RedHawks who have pitched a complete game this season.
Williams is batting .274 with eight doubles, 42 RBI, 31 runs scored and a league leading 15 home runs. Williams has hit for a season high, four RBI in a single game twice this season and has one multi-home run game that came on May 22, when Williams went 3-for-4 with two home runs, a double, three RBI and three runs scored.
With the addition of Culp, Cable, Sergent and Williams, the RedHawks now have a total of six players heading to the Northern League All-Star Game on July 19, at U.S. Steel Yard in Gary, Ind. OF Richard Austin and SS Bryon Jeffcoat were announced as North Division starters on Monday.
