The Chicago Cubs have announced the following roster moves affecting the Myrtle Beach Pelicans:

-LHP Justin Steele has been assigned to Double-A Tennessee from Myrtle Beach.

-INF Christian Donahue has been assigned to Myrtle Beach from Low-A South Bend. He will wear No. 51.

Steele made four starts for Myrtle Beach, posting a 2-1 record and 2.45 ERA. In 18.1 innings, the southpaw struck out 19 against six walks and 12 hits against. The Lucedale, Miss., native pitched with the Pelicans last season, going 6-7 with a 2.92 ERA over 20 starts that covered 98.2 innings. However, he departed from his August 1 outing at Frederick and underwent Tommy John Surgery three weeks later. Steele made five rehab starts this year with Rookie-level Mesa, where he pitched to a 1.47 ERA thanks to 27 strikeouts against four walks and nine hits allowed in 18.1 innings. Steele was originally drafted in the fifth round of the 2014 draft out of George County High School in Mississippi.

Donahue played in 80 games with Low-A South Bend, where he slashed .287/.352/.379 with 18 doubles, one triple, two home runs and 23 RBIs. He also had a three-game cameo with Triple-A Iowa, going 0-for-6 with a walk at the plate. A native of Mililani, Hawaii, Donahue was signed by the Cubs on August 26, 2017 as a non-drafted free agent. At Oregon State University, he earned Academic All-Pac-12 honors in 2017 and First Team All-Pac-12 honors in 2016.

The Pelicans' roster sits at 25 active players, with six players on the disabled list.
