WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Former Dash right-hander Ryan Burr is set to make his Major League debut with the Chicago White Sox after earning a promotion from Triple-A Charlotte on Wednesday. Burr pitched for Winston-Salem in 2017.

Burr becomes the 359th Winston-Salem alumnus to graduate to the Major Leagues, and the 51st in the Dash era (2009-present). He joins former right-hander Yency Almonte (2015) as the only Dash alumni to reach The Show this season.

The 24-year-old Burr is 4-3 with a 2.45 ERA over 37 combined appearances between Double-A Birmingham and Triple-A Charlotte in 2018. He began the season with the Barons and strung together a streak of 20.1 innings without allowing an earned run before getting called up to Charlotte. Burr made seven appearances with the Knights, allowing just one earned run in 8.1 innings.

A fifth-round pick by the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2015 out of Arizona State, Burr was traded from the Diamondbacks to the White Sox in August of 2017 in exchange for future considerations. That summer, he made six appearances with the Dash, tossing 8.1 scoreless innings and holding opposing batters to a .179 average.

Burr has shined since joining the White Sox organization, going 4-3 with a 2.11 ERA in 43 appearances across three levels. The former Sun Devil has notched 63 strikeouts and 30 walks in 59.2 innings as a White Sox farmhand.

Winston-Salem had two players at the start of the year who had logged time in the big leagues. Jose Ruiz and Ricardo Pinto, who each made their Major League debut in 2017, were on the Dash's active roster on Opening Day.
