LHP Capuano Scheduled for Rehab Start with Topes Wednesday

Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Chris Capuano is scheduled to start for the Isotopes this Wednesday, May 1 for a Major League rehabilitation assignment. Albuquerque plays host to the Memphis Redbirds with a 6:35 PM start at Isotopes Park on Wednesday.

The southpaw was placed on the 15-day disabled list April 17 with a strained left calf. This will be Capuano's first rehab appearance after throwing a simulated game to Dodgers hitters on Saturday. In three appearances (one start) with Los Angeles before landing on the DL, the Massachusetts native was 0-1 with a 9.64 ERA (5ER/4.2IP).

The Duke Blue Devil was originally drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the eighth round of the 1999 First-Year Player Draft. Capuano holds a career 69-77 record with a 4.30 ERA (557 ER/1166.2IP) over nine seasons in the Majors with four teams. The 6-foot-3 lefty was signed by the Dodgers as a free agent on December 2, 2011. In his first season with the Los Angeles last year, the 34-year-old hurler posted a 12-12 record with a 3.72 ERA (82ER/198.1 IP) in 33 starts. The Topes open an eight-game homestand tonight against the Memphis Redbirds. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. for 50 cent Hot Dog Night at Isotopes Park. RHP Angel Castro will face off against RHP Michael Wacha. Listen to all of the action with Josh Suchon on 610AM.
