GREENVILLE, S.C. - The Lexington Legends used a pair of three-run frames to top the Greenville Drive, 7-2, on Monday night at Fluor Field in the series opener.

Lexington broke open the scoring with three runs in the third. An error by the shortstop put a runner on second with two outs and Reed Rohlman singled to left to score him. Freddy Fermin then followed with his fifth home run of the season to make it 3-0 lead.

The Legends extended its lead with a lone run in the fifth. Nathan Eaton led off the inning with a single, moved to second and third on a pair of groundouts and scored on a wild pitch, making it a 4-0 game.

Greenville got on the board in the sixth. Tyler Esplin and Brandon Howlett reached on back-to-back hit-by-pitches. After Jonathan Ortega moved the runners to second and third with a sac bunt, Grant Williams scored Esplin with a sac fly to right to cut the lead to 4-1.

Lexington tacked on three more in the eighth. An RBI single by Michael Gigliotti scored the first and Eaton followed with a two-run home run to left to make it a 7-1 ballgame.

Lexington starter Jonathan Bowlan (4-2) earned the win, allowing just one run on two hits in 7.0 innings pitched with four strikeouts against no walks. Drive starter Chris Machamer (1-2) suffered the loss, allowing four runs (one earned) on four hits with three strikeouts against four walks.

Offensively for the Drive, Esplin doubled and scored as part of a 1-for-3 night, while Marrero went 1-for-3 with a run. Williams added a 1-for-3 with an RBI, while Dylan Hardy contributed the remaining Drive hit of the night. Yoan Aybar and Logan Browning each worked a scoreless inning out of the bullpen.
