Lexington Legends News Release

Andy Simunic had four hits and Brad Dydalewicz allowed four hits and one run through six innings as the Lexington Legends defeated the Charleston RiverDogs 7-1 in Charleston Saturday night.

The Legends scored a run in the top of the first inning. Jay Austin tripled down the right field line to lead off the game. Albert Cartwright popped out, but Brandon Wikoff singled to score Austin. Wikoff had three hits in the game and is now 12 for 21 in five games with the Legends since being called up from Tri City.

Charleston tied the game with a run in the third, but the Legends went in front for good in the fourth. Simunic, who has 14 hits in his last 30 at bats, singled for his second hit. Freddie Hernandez bunted for a single and Steve Brown sacrificed the runners to second and third. Jeff Hulett's infield out scored Simunic to give Lexington a 2-1 lead.

Simunic's RBI single in the fifth made it 3-1, and Brown's double, a wild pitch and Hulett's sacrifice fly plated another run in the sixth.

Cartwright's RBI on an infield out gave the Legends a 5-1 lead in the eighth, and Lexington added two more when Charleston center fielder Melky Mesa dropped Brown's long fly ball with two on in the ninth. Eric Suttle and Hernandez scored on the play.

Dydalewicz (6-4) was the winning pitcher. Charleston starter Trent Lare (0-2) was the loser. The Legends have won the first two games of the series, which continues Sunday. First pitch is set for 5:05 p.m.
