Braves Win Rain-Shortened Affair

Rome, GA - The Rome Braves defeated the Asheville Tourists in game three of a four game series 7-3 Saturday night in front of 3,525 fans at State Mutual Stadium. The game was called in the top of the seventh after a 44 minute rain delay.

The Tourists jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first as Scott Robinson and Kiel Roling both doubled scoring a run for the 1-0 lead.

In the third, the Tourists would add to their lead as Delta Cleary singled to left and moved to third on an errant pick off attempt and later scored on Roling single making it 2-0.

In the fifth inning the Braves would start their comeback as Ryan Barba singled to center and Shayne Moody reached base on a throwing error. Joel Campusano followed with a single to left scoring Barba and Luis Sumoza added an RBI double plating Moody. A wild pitch by Dan Houston later scored Campusano and gave Rome a 3-2 advantage.

Asheville would come back to tie the game 3-3 in the top of the sixth when Jimmy Cesario scored on a sacrifice fly by Ryan Peisel. In the bottom of the inning the Braves broke the game open scoring four runs. Chaise Fuller started with a single up the middle and walks to Barba, Moody, and Campusano scored Fuller. Sumoza then connected for a bases clearing double giving Rome a 7-3 victory.

Randall Delgado (3-8) gets the win for the Tourists and Dan Houston (5-8) gets the loss for Rome.
