CHARLESTON, SC - Lexington's Andy Simunic ratcheted four hits, scored one run and knocked in one RBI as the Legends smacked the RiverDogs, 7-1, in South Atlantic League action Saturday night in front of 4,356 fans at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park.

With the victory, the Legends secure at least split in the four-game series and lift their second half record to 16-18 (52-52 overall) while the RiverDogs slip to 14-21 in the second half (53-52 overall).

The Legends took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first when Jay Austin laced a leadoff triple down the right field line and scampered home on Brandon Wikoff's RBI single for the game's first run.

Charleston knotted the game at 1-1 in the third when Jose Pirela drew a leadoff walk and advanced to second on a groundout. With Corban Joseph at the plate, Pirela stole third and dashed home on Lexington catcher Federico Hernandez's throwing error the sailed into the outfield.

Lexington reclaimed a 2-1 advantage in the fourth when Simunic slapped a single to left and moved to second on a single by Hernandez. Following a sacrifice bunt by Steve Brown that advanced the runners into scoring position, Jeff Hulett knocked home Simunic on a groundout.

The Legends tacked on an additional run in the fifth when Brian Pellegrini reached on a fielder's choice, stole second and scored on Simunic's lined RBI single to left to make the score 3-1.

Lexington extended its advantage to 4-1 in the sixth when Brown smashed a leadoff double and dashed to third on a wild pitch uncorked by RiverDogs reliever Charles Nolte. Hulett followed with a sacrifice fly to left that plated Brown.

The Legends made the score 5-1 in the eighth on a RBI groundout by Albert Cartwright.

Lexington capped the scoring in the ninth when Brown lifted a fly ball to centerfield that was dropped by Mesa resulting in a fielding error that plated two runs and elongated the Legends advantage to six, 7-1.

Legends starter Brad Dydalewicz (6-4) earned the victory after he tossed six full stanzas and was charged with one unearned run on four hits and two walks while striking out three.

Charleston Trent Lare (0-2) suffered the defeat in his RiverDogs home debut after he allowed four earned runs on nine hits and three walks while striking out four in 5.0 innings.

Paced by Pirela's three hits the RiverDogs smashed six in the game while the Legends hammered 12 base knocks led by Simunic's four hits.

The RiverDogs turn to 2009 Futures Game selection left-hander Manny Banuelos (8-4, 2.60 ERA) while the Legends counter with right-hander Ross Seaton (7-8, 2.82 ERA) in Game 3 of the four-game set that is scheduled for Sunday at 5:05 p.m.
