
Legends' Schwindel Named SAL Player of the Week

(WHITAKER BANK BALLPARK, Lexington, Ky.) Lexington Legends' catcher-first baseman Frank Schwindel has been named South Atlantic League Player of the Week for May 26-June 1, SAL President Eric Krupa announced Monday.
For the period, Schwindel played in seven games and had 12 hits in 29 at bats for an average of .414. He hit six home runs and drove in 16 runs. He also hit three doubles and scored eight runs. His on-base percentage for the week was .455, and his slugging percentage was 1.138.
Schwindel, 21, a native of New Jersey, played for St. John's University before being selected by the Kansas City Royals in the 18th round of the June 2013 draft.
"Frank has been on an incredible run and is really deserving of the Player of the Week honor," said Legends President/COO Andy Shea. "He's been a great representative of the Legends on and off the field."
Schwindel and the Legends are on the road this week for three games in Greenville, S.C. followed by four in Augusta, Ga. The series opener in Greenville is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. tonight (Monday).
The Legends return home Monday, June 9 to play the Asheville Tourists at Whitaker Bank Ballpark in a 7:05 p.m. game.
