Kannapolis Cannon Ballers News Release

CHARLESTON, W.V. (June 2, 2014) - Trey Michalczewski blasted a 3-run home run in the first inning to set the tone as the Kannapolis Intimidators dropped the West Virginia Power, 7-1, on Monday at Appalachian Power Park. Kannapolis (26-30) has now won four of its last five games.

Michalczewski, 19, finished 2-for-4 with a triple, three RBI, and two runs scored while Danny Hayes went 3-for-5 with an RBI-double as part of a 3-run seventh inning.

Andrew Mitchell spun 3 and 2/3 scoreless innings, striking out five while limiting the Power to a hit and two walks to earn the relief win. Dykstra has limited West Virginia to a run on six hits while striking out three and walking one.

Justin Topa took the loss for the Power, giving up three runs on six hits, including Michalczewski's bomb to center field. Topa (3-3) struck out five and walked one over 4 and 2/3 innings.
