FRISCO, TX - The Texas Legends (3-3) rallied from a 17-point deficit but missed a final opportunity at the buzzer, falling to the Birmingham Squadron (2-4) 114-117.
The Legends grabbed the first basket but within minutes the visitors had taken control. Texas tied it up with just under five minutes in the quarter, but Birmingham responded with a 16-4 run to hold a 12-point lead at the buzzer. McKinley Wright IV powered out a 10-point performance in the second to help chip away at Birmingham's largest lead of the night (+17) and take Texas into the half down 61-68.
The visitors regained a double-digit lead midway through the third, but Texas finished the quarter on a 12-4 run to make it a two-point game heading into the final minutes. Tyler Dorsey opened the fourth with a long ball to put Texas back on top and the back-and-fourth began. After four lead changes and and four ties, Birmingham fended off the Legends efforts and a final miss at the buzzer gave the visitors the victory to even the season series 1-1.
Mavericks assignee Jaden Hardy led all scorers with 29 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists. Tyler Hall added 21 points, 4 assists, and Wright had the game's only double-double with 19 points, 6 rebounds, and a team season-high 15 assists.
Javonte Smart led the Squadron with 28 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 assists. Zylan Cheatham and Kelan Martin added 21 points apiece and combined for 17 rebounds. Kalob Ledoux came off the bench to tag on 17 points.
Texas continues a five-game homestand Monday, hosting the Lakeland Magic at 7pm CT. For tickets or game information call 214-469-0822 or visit www.TexLegends.com.
