Osceola Magic News Release
The Lakeland Magic, NBA G League affiliate of the Orlando Magic, fell to the Mexico City Capitanes 110-100 at the Mexico City Arena.
The Magic had a familiar face back with them in Mexico City, the return of Aleem Ford. Ford had a five-point first quarter. The Capitanes played well on both ends of the floor, having great defense and knocking down five three-point shots. At the end of the first the Capitanes led the Magic 34-21.
The Magic responded with a different game in the second quarter. While the Capitanes stuck to their three-point shooting, the Magic pounded the paint. The Capitanes could not get the lid off the basket shooting 8-26 from three-point range in the first half. This allowed the Magic to overcome a 13-point deficit and lead the game 55-50 finishing the first half.
In the second half both teams exchanged the lead multiple times. Gary Clark, former Orlando Magic player, had 20 points leading all scorers in the third quarter helping the Capitanes reclaim their lead over the Magic 80-77.
In the fourth quarter Mason Jones would take over the game scoring 13 of his 16 points, while Gary Clark led all players with 25 points. The Magic had six players score in double figures, with Aleem Ford recording a team-high of 18 points in his first game back with Lakeland.
The Lakeland Magic (3-3) will continue their road trip on Monday, November 21 against the Texas Legends at 8:00 PM on NBAGleague.com.
