The West Virginia Power scored two runs in the second inning to jump out to an early lead in their 4-1 victory over the Lexington Legends in game three of a four-game series. Caleb Gindl went 2-3 with a double, a run scored and an RBI to pace the West Virginia offense.
Curt Rindal doubled to lead off the second inning and moved to third on Matt Cline's single. Lee Haydel drove Rindal home with a single and Cline went to second on the play. Eric Farris then drove Cline home with a single to left field.
Lexington rallied for a single run in the fourth for their only offensive output of the game. Brandon Barnes doubled with two outs and moved to third on a wild pitch from Daniel Merklinger. Jonathan Fixler then drove Barnes home with a single to center field.
West Virginia extended their lead to three runs in the seventh inning. Logan Schafer singled with one out and was replaced at first by Eric Fryer who grounded into a force out. Caleb Gindl then drove Fryer home with a double to left and scored on Zelous Wheeler's double to right field.
Corey Frerichs earned the win with two shutout innings of relief for the Power. Jeff Icenogle was the hard-luck loser once again for Lexington after surrendering two runs on nine hits in five innings.
