Hickory Crawdads News Release
Due to persistent rain throughout the afternoon that made field conditions unplayable, Monday's game between Hickory and Asheville has been rained out. The two Western North Carolina rivals are not scheduled to play again in 2008 and with lack of post-season implications surrounding the game, the squads will not make up the contest.
Hickory finishes its season series against Asheville with a 5-10 record, but having split the last eight meetings 4-4 and having won the season series finale on Sunday, 5-2.
The Crawdads will enjoy an off-day Tuesday before embarking on their final road trip of the season, beginning a three-game series at Augusta on Wednesday.
Hickory will return home to conclude its 2008 season with a three-game set against Greenville, running August 30-Sept. 1.
The homestand will feature a 7-compartment cooler giveaway August 30, followed by Fan Appreciation Night and the conclusion of the Crawdads Jersey Auction on the 31 and then the season finale September 1.
