Lexington Legends News Release

The Lexington Legends came from behind with five runs in the seventh inning and held on for a 9-6 win over the Asheville Tourists Sunday in Asheville. Jiovanni Mier's fifth home run of the year in the first inning gave the Legends a 1-0 lead, but the Tourists came back with single runs in the first and third for a 2-1 advantage. Each team scored a run in the fourth, and the Tourists stretched the lead to three on a two-run homer by Corey Dickerson in the bottom of the fifth.

After missing out on a bases-loaded, no-outs opportunity in the sixth, the Legends cashed in on another chance in the seventh. With one out, singles by Roberto Pena, Emilio King and Delino DeShields loaded the bases. Adam Bailey was hit by a pitch, forcing in a run and cutting the Asheville lead to two at 5-3. Chris Wallace then grounded a single into left field, scoring King and DeShields. The throw home was cut off, and as Bailey slid into third, the throw there went into left field. Bailey scored to give the Legends a 6-5 lead, and Wallace advanced to third, from where he scored on Mike Kvasnicka's sacrifice fly.

Kyle Parker hit a solo homer for Asheville in the bottom of the seventh, but the Legends added two more runs in the eighth on three hits and two Asheville errors.

David Martinez (1-0) picked up the win in relief. Asheville reliever Bruce Kern (1-3) took the loss.

The Legends have taken two of three in the series, which concludes Monday with an 11:05 a.m. game at McCormick Field.
