Delmarva Shorebirds News Release

Salisbury, Md.- The Shorebirds four-game winning streak went by the wayside on Friday night as Lexington's Jeff Icenogle and a pair of relievers held the Birds to just three hits in the 5-0 shutout. Icenogle, who had won just one game in his first 14 starts of the season, earned his second triumph with six and two-thirds sensational frames in which he struck out eight Shorebirds. Tyler Henson doubled, Matt Angle and Ryan Adams singled, and that was it for the Delmarva offense which was blanked for the first time in the second half and the fifth time this season. The 3-4-5 combination for the Shorebirds finished the day 0-12 with seven strikeouts.

The Legends took an early lead off Delmarva starter Luis Noel, as Kyle Miller's single in the first plated Eric Taylor to give Lexington a 1-0. Taylor scored the second run of the game as well. After doubling with two outs, Brian Pellegrini's base knock sent him home and the Legends led 2-0. Taylor concluded his spectacular day with the bat by doubling in the seventh. The Legends led 5-0 after Miller's second RBI single of the contest gave Taylor his third run scored of the ballgame.

The three hits in a game for the Shorebirds was the fewest since they had three on May 18 in a 4-0 loss to Greensboro. Twice this season, Delmarva was held to only two hits.
