December 9, 2011 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Wichita Thunder News Release

North Richland Hills, TX- For the second night in a row, Wichita was unable to hold onto a two goal lead and lost to the Texas Brahmas, 3-2 at the NYTEX Sports Centre Friday evening. Texas forward Kyle Howarth scored two goals in the final period, including the game winner with 48 seconds left. The loss is the second in a row for Wichita, dropping the Thunder to third place.

Alex Bourret got things started just 47 seconds in when he was pulled down on a breakaway and was awarded a penalty shot. Bourret beat Brahmas netminder Mark Guggenberger through the five hole to give Wichita a 1-0 lead. Wichita had been unsuccessful on two previous penalty shots this season.

Kevn Seibel added to Wichita's lead when he stepped up into the play, caught a pass from Thomas Beauregard and found the back of the net for his first goal of the year to make it 2-0. Texas scored late in the first right after Chris Chappell came out of the penalty box and went in all alone, but was denied on a breakaway that could have made it a three goal game.

The Brahmas scored the final three goals of the contest and held on for a 3-2 win. With the loss, Wichita drops to 12-7-0 with 24 points and a tie for third place with Tulsa. The Thunder have now lost two straight games when taking a lead after one period and scoring the first goal.

Wichita returns home Saturday to host the Brahmas for the first time this season at 7:05pm. Saturday is Teddy Bear Toss night. Bring a new stuffed animal and throw it on the ice when the Thunder score its first goal. The stuffed animals are then donated to local charities and delivered by the Thunder players to less fortunate children around the Wichita area.
