Mallards, Genesis Partner to Raise $23,517 for Fight Against Breast
December 9, 2011 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Quad City Mallards News Release
MOLINE, Ill. (December 9, 2011) - The Quad City Mallards of the "AA" Central Hockey League this evening partnered with Genesis Health System to raise $23,517 for breast health services at Genesis through "Pink in the Rink Night" during and after the Mallards' game against the Missouri Mavericks at the i wireless Center.
The Mallards wore special edition pink jerseys during the game and those sweaters went up for bid in a live auction immediately following the contest. The highest bidding was for the jersey of Taylor Vichorek, which was auctioned off for $1,100.
Funds were also raised for the fight against breast cancer tonight via sales of pink-themed "Men of the Mallards" 2012 calendars featuring a dozen different Mallard players. Calendars remain available for $20 apiece at the Mallards Pro Shop in the i wireless Center and during home games at the team's merchandise kiosk on the main arena concourse. Proceeds generated this evening by the raffling off of a pink jewelry set provided by Riddle's Jewelers- along with Mallards season tickets and an autographed pink Mallard hat- will also benefit Genesis's breast health services.
Over the last 17 years Mallards jersey auctions have raised better than $600,000 to benefit Genesis charities.
The Mallards, who visit the Dayton Gems tomorrow night, next play on home ice next Saturday night, December 17, at 7:05 p.m. against the Mavericks.
Single game tickets for all Mallards regular season home contests- including next Saturday's game- are now available. Fans can contact the Mallards at (309) 277-1364 or tickets@myqcmallards.com for more information about tickets.
Single game tickets are also available at the i wireless Center box office, at Ticketmaster outlets, through www.ticketmaster.com or through Ticketmaster charge-by-phone toll free.
