Winnipeg Goldeyes News Release

WINNIPEG - Winnipeg Goldeyes manager Rick Forney announced today that pitcher Brian Leach has been released.

Leach, 26, had an 11.74 ERA in three outings, including one start. He wasn't the pitcher of record in any of the three games he pitched in.

This roster move gets the Goldeyes down to 22 players, including 11 pitchers and 11 position players, to meet the American Association's roster deadline yesterday.

The American Association also announced today that Goldeyes outfielder/designated hitter Jon Weber has been suspended two games and first baseman Yurendell de Caster has been suspended one game for being ejected following an altercation in the eighth inning of Saturday's game in El Paso. Both players will begin serving their suspensions immediately.

The Goldeyes will host the Amarillo Sox tomorrow night for the team's home opener at Shaw Park. Game time is 7 p.m. There are more than 7,100 tickets have been sold for the game tomorrow night.

Fans looking to purchase season tickets, nine-game mini packs and individual game tickets for the 2012 season can call the Goldeyes office at 982-BASE (2273), visit the Shaw Park box office or click on Ticketmaster.ca.
