Wichita 7, Fargo-Moorhead 5

A RBI single by 1B CJ Ziegler and a RBI double by RF David Peralta plated two runs in the ninth inning for Wichita as the Wingnuts broke a 5-5 tie and beat the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks, 7-5. Peralta on the night went 2-for-2 with two doubles, two runs scored and three runs batted in. SS Ryan Khoury and C Salomon Manriquez each chipped in with two hits apiece and a RBI for Wichita. Wingnuts reliever Matt Nevarez notched the win after fanning two batters in a scoreless inning of work. Wichita closer Josh Dew collected his fourth save of the season.

Laredo 7, Lincoln 2

It was all Laredo in this one as the Lemurs scored six of their seven runs over the first four innings of the game and cruised to a 7-2 win over the Lincoln Saltdogs. Laredo CF Stephen Douglas and 1B Stephen Pearson each had three-hit nights while 3B John Allen and C Brian Peterson both plated two runs. Lemurs starting pitcher Chris Chavez was terrific en route to his first win of the season. Chavez tossed a complete game allowing two earned runs on five hits with two walks and six strikeouts. DH Asif Shah hit a solo home run and drove in both runs for Lincoln.

Gary SouthShore 16, Sioux Falls 7

It was definitely an offensive show in Gary, IN tonight as the Gary SouthShore RailCats defeated the Sioux Falls Pheasants, 16-7. Both teams combined to score 23 runs on 31 hits. RailCats RF Mike Massaro had a monster game at the plate going 4-for-5 with two triples, three runs scored and five RBI. Gary SouthShore's 7-8-9 hitters of 1B Mike Rohde, CF Sean M. Smith and 2B Chris Carrera collected seven hits in 11 at-bats, scored eight runs and drove in six. RailCats reliever Chris Allen picked up the victory going 2 2/3 innings allowing a hit while fanning two batters. In the loss, Pheasants leadoff hitter Jonny Kaplan went 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored and two RBI. He is now hitting .486 on the young season.

Kansas City 9, El Paso 4

A solid pitching performance from starting pitcher Josh Rainwater and a good hitting night from 2B Sean Henry lead the Kansas City T-Bones to its four straight win with a 9-4 win over the El Paso Diablos. Rainwater went seven innings allowing two runs, one earned, on six hits with a walk and three strikeouts. The win by the righthander is his first of the season. Henry went 2-for-5 at the plate with a home run and four RBI. The home run was a three-run shot in the four-run seventh inning.
