
Lemurs Get Swept in Amarillo

Amarillo, TX - The short-handed Laredo Lemurs took their fifth loss in a row and the fourth at the hands of the Amarillo Sox by a final score of 9-5.
With the Lemurs down to 21 players they took the field short-handed with little room for injury or ejection.
Yunesky Sanchez was unavailable with a tight hamstring and Luis Uribe batted in the DH spot with his tight hamstring on the mend. Sanchez is looking to get back on the field tomorrow in Lincoln, NE.
In the first the Lemurs posted two runs as the lead-off hitter Anthony Scelfo reached on a single and Jimmy Mojica followed up with a walk. John Allen would come through with a single that drove in Scelfo from second. Mojica was brought home by Ernie Banks Jr.'s single and put the Lemurs up 2-0 after a half inning.
In the bottom of the first the Sox answered with two runs to tie the game and they added two more runs in the second to take a 4-2 lead over the Lemurs.
In the second inning the Lemurs saw two players get ejected from the game along with manager Pete Incaviglia. Jeff Vincent got tossed for arguing balls and strikes with the home plate umpire in the top of the second. In the bottom of the second Alberto Espinosa of the Sox was hit by a pitch thrown by Todd Privett the benches cleared. Privett continued to argue after everyone else settled down and he was ejected. Manager Pete Incaviglia was quietly ejected during the bench clearing brawl as no one in the press box new Incaviglia got tossed until after the game.
After order was restored the Sox chipped away at the Lemurs adding five more runs throughout the game.
To help with being short-handed the Lemurs have added a right handed relief pitcher Robert Romero and outfielder Stephen Douglas to the team. Both will probably see action Monday in Lincoln, Nebraska.
